The prior authorization process for specialty and high-volume drugs can be a lot to handle if you’re a patient or a physician, and the cost of processing these claims can drive up claims administration expenses for group plans and plan sponsors.
The Prior Authorization Framework and Accreditation (PAFA) Program is designed to recognize insurers, provincial drug programs, and other payers who are working to improve the efficiency of their prior authorization claims process. Payers can become accredited in Administrative Efficiencies or Electronic Prior Authorization.
